Statutory purpose

The foundation supports social, cultural and civic participation for people experiencing social, economic, physical, mental or psychological disadvantage, especially persons with disabilities, in the Netherlands and internationally. It promotes disability rights through education, culture, art, health, media, sport and institutional cooperation. All income and assets serve this public-benefit purpose; remaining assets upon dissolution must go to an ANBI or an organisation with a comparable public-benefit purpose. No director or other person may treat the foundation’s assets as personal property.

Board and governance

Chair: Hüseyin Nacar. Secretary: Véronique Monique Emens. Treasurer: Barış Kaya. The board is collectively responsible for strategy, oversight, financial management, implementation and compliance with the articles of association and ANBI obligations. In preparation for the ANBI application, the board held a formal meeting to review and record the conditions, governance arrangements, remuneration policy and publication obligations.

Policy and use of funds

Our policy connects concrete public-benefit activities with responsible fundraising, careful asset management and transparent accountability.

Activities

Activities include accessible cultural programmes, film, education, sport, awareness and international cooperation. Accessibility is considered from the start in programme design, communication and participation. Current work includes preparations for the International Barikat Film Festival, panels, concerts, accessible sport and public events for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Sources of income

Funding may include grants, donations, sponsorships and project or partnership contributions consistent with the foundation’s independence and purpose. Funds and other lawful income are also possible, provided they respect the foundation’s independence, integrity and statutory purpose.

Management of assets

The treasurer manages the accounts and reports to the board. Assets are managed prudently for continuity and planned activities. Funds are held securely. The foundation retains no more assets than reasonably needed for continuity and planned activities.

Use of funds

Expenditure must be proportionate, budgeted and directed to the statutory purpose. Costs must remain reasonable in relation to the activities, and expenditure must demonstrably serve the public benefit. The board assesses proposed spending against the approved budget.

Remuneration policy

Board members receive no remuneration. Reasonable documented expenses may be reimbursed. The foundation currently has no salaried executive management. Before any future staff appointment, the board must approve an appropriate, transparent and market-aligned remuneration framework.

2026 activity report and financial statements

2026 is the foundation’s first financial year. After year-end, the board plans to publish the activity report, balance sheet, income and expenditure statement and notes by 1 July 2027. These documents are not yet available in the source archive. The financial year follows the calendar year. The board will approve the reports before publication.
